Reimagining the Language of Pain Sunday April 23rd 2-3:15pm cost: free-sliding scale. In this workshop we will use writing and collage activities to explore language beyond the pain scale. Facilitated by claire barrera and Meredith Butner, creators of When Language Runs Dry

🌿 Join us at the IPRC on Sunday April 23nd from 2-3:15 pm for Reimagining the Language of Pain with claire barrera and Meredith Butner, editors & creators of When Language Runs Dry 🖊

In this workshop we will use writing and collage activities to explore language beyond the pain scale. We are so often asked to describe pain using a limited collection of words, numbers and symbols. While this may be helpful from a clinical standpoint, it can feel reductive, leaving us with too narrow a vocabulary for a complicated experience. All people are welcome, especially folks experiencing chronic pain. Feel free to bring blankets, pillows, and anything else you need to feel cozy. Free – sliding scale. Register here.

Stick around after the workshop and browse the Zine Library during open hours! 📚

*masks and proof of vaccination required*

+ Sensory Note: for anyone experiencing audio or visual sensitivity, please note that the IPRC is situated under a skatepark, which creates occasional disruptive background noise, and the lighting in the studio and classroom space is primarily fluorescent.

+ The IPRC has a wheelchair accessible entrance on the south side of the building.
