Drawing Towards Our Autonomy: Trans Healthcare in Words and Pictures (A Comics Workshop) with Rimona Eskayo
April 22, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 3:30 pm
📚 Join us at the IPRC on Saturday April 22nd from 2-3:30 pm for Drawing Towards Our Autonomy: Trans Healthcare in Words and Pictures (A Comics Workshop) with Rimona Eskayo 🖍
This workshop will take a look at the current state of trans healthcare, introducing the possibilities of comics and independent publishing to address gaps of access and information. Participants will be introduced to a variety of comics and illustrated works that address trans healthcare and bodily autonomy more broadly – including facilitator Rimona Eskayo’s debut 2022 book, I’m Having Top Surgery: An Illustrated Guide For You And Me. Through guided discussion and hands-on comics drawing exercises, participants will get a chance to create comics of their own and take home a zine of their creations. Participants will leave the workshop with a better understanding of how to tell their own stories and engage with trans communities more broadly using words, pictures, and publications. This workshop is for trans folks only, nonbinary people included! No drawing/artistic experience required. Register here.
Stick around after the workshop and browse the Zine Library during open hours! 📚
*masks and proof of vaccination required*
