Your story, your project, our shared studio space. Joining the IPRC community as a member will give you access to all of the resources you need to bring your ideas to life. Join as a Staple or Studio Member depending on your independent publishing needs. By becoming a member, you support the IPRC’s mission to provide affordable access to tools and resources for independent publishing.

Friends of the Zine Library Membership

Our most affordable supporting membership type! Celebrate independent publishing and support the revitalization & preservation of our beloved zine library! As a thank you for your support, Friends receive a quarterly newsletter with zine library highlights & updates, as well as an annual digital zine. Perfect for zinesters in and outside of Portland. Friends of the Zine Library membership starts at $5 a month or $60 a year.*

Staple Membership

As a Staple Member you gain access to the main studio, receive discounts on copies & workshops, and receive free admission to IPRC events, readings and lectures. In addition, Staple Membership also includes 3 Learn Make Share workshops a year. Standard Staple Member prices are $12 a month or $120 a year.*

Studio Membership

As a Studio Member, you gain all of the benefits of Basic Membership as well as access to the letterpress, screen printing, and risograph print studios (once you’ve completed requisite “Intro” workshop, though people with extensive past printmaking experience may be able to “test out” of intro workshops). Standard Studio Member prices are $30 a month or $300 a year.*

Supporting Collaborator Membership 

For IPRC lovers <3 Invest in the arts community and help the IPRC community print shop and zine library thrive for years to come! Collaborators underwrite the equivalent of five Staple Memberships, two Studio Memberships, or two printmaking workshops per year. If you love what the IPRC does and want to pay it forward and support lower-income community members, this is a great way to do that. Supporting Collaborator membership starts at $50/month or $500/year.

*Everything that the IPRC does is offered on a sliding scale, so please contact rosie@iprc.org to discuss a rate that will work for you. Those that are able to pay the standard membership prices help support our scholarship and reduced rate memberships, thank you!

 

Our facilities include:
  • A Letterpress Studio featuring table top and flatbed presses, as well as more than 150 diverse fonts of lead type, 25 fonts of wood type, and many unique engravings and printer’s ornaments
  • A Screen Printing studio where you can access basic screen printing supplies such as cleaners and silkscreen emulsion, screens and ink. We also provide an exposure unit, a light tight closet for exposing screens, a wash out booth, a drying rack for the screen studio, and a light table.
  • A Risograph print studio featuring 3 GR3770s risograph printers and 13 color drums
  • A BindFast Perfect Binding Service: Bring covers and interiors to have supervisors bind  professional Perfect Bound books with custom or generic wrap around covers. The BindFast machine is able to produce up to 30 perfect-bound books. See our Bindfast page for more information about prepping your files for printing.
  • A computer lab of Mac desktop computers with the Adobe Creative Suite, and large format scanners.
  • Two copier machines for digital printing, or scanning.
  • An assortment of supplies needed to hand bind books and finalize the production of books, zines or other publications, including saddle staplers, long arm staplers, corner rounders, paper scorers, 2 stack cutters, book mats, bone folders, exacto knives, awls and waxed thread.
  • Other various supplies: button makers and button supplies, colored pencils, stamps, pens, and basic art supplies.

  • Fee free access to our facilities.
  • Supports all our outreach efforts, which include teaching media literacy, critical thinking and zine making skills to at-risk youth.

 

The IPRC also offers access to our studio for non-members at the following rates:

  • $4/hour (Staple), $6/hour (Studio)
  • $6/day (Staple), $12/day (Studio)

How do the new membership options compare to the old ones?

In Spring 2024, we updated our Basic membership to the Staple membership. It has identical member benefits, but now includes the new Friends of the Zine library newsletter and digital zine!

Can I sign up for multiple membership levels?

Yes, absolutely! 

If I’m currently a monthly member, when will the rate adjustments start?

Rate adjustments will go into effect for current monthly members in August 2024.
