Con-header-21

The IPRC is very proud of Justin Hocking, (our former ED and current Certificate Program Chair) for begin awarded the Willamette Writers Humanitarian Award for his work with the IPRC Media Action Project (MAP).  This is an incredible honor and we look forward to being at the August 2nd conference meeting and mingling with other writers and artists!

MAP-300x225The Media Action Project (MAP) is a four-session outreach curriculum that teaches youth how to critically deconstruct print ads, television commercials and websites in order to examine their true messages about gender, violence, beauty, consumerism, etc, and to consider how these messages might affect their own sense of self and physical health.

FYI: The winners of the
Annual Awards are chosen by the Willamette Writers Board each spring. The 2014 award winners will be honored during the Gala Awards Banquet at the Willamette Writers Conference on August 2nd, 2014 at 6:30 pm.
