The IPRC’s Eighth Annual TEXT BALL

GET ALLITERATED at the Eighth Annual TEXT BALL and celebrate your favorite LITERARY DEVICES with a live reading by Arthur Bradford, food from Special Snowflake Studio, and enough puns, alcohol, and irony to foreshadow a GREAT NIGHT!

Brought to you by the Independent Publishing Resource Center (IPRC), in conjunction with Wordstock, the TEXT BALL is Portland’s most unique literary event, where attendees are encouraged to come dressed with text as part of their evening attire.

The IPRC recently moved to a huge and amazing new space, and just completed major renovations, making it possible for the TEXT BALL to be held inside the IPRC for the first time ever. The theme for this year’s Ball is Literary Devices. Hosted by the dynamic A.C. Dickson, this year’s BALL will include a live auction, costume contest, a dirty limerick challenge, giant crossword puzzles, a wheel of fortune spin for artists’ prints, and a DIY station where attendees can make their own commemorative letterpress poster.

Portland Wine Storage and Ninkasi will provide beer and wine.

If it’s food you’re after, Special Snowflake Supper Club will offer an amazing menu based on the Literary Devices theme:

+Red herring:
Salt cured salmon and pickled beets with Macedonian black bread, yogurt, and butter.

+Allusion and metaphor:
Gordian knot pretzels, everything-bagel spice mix, pickled mustard seed, mustard, and sprouted mustard greens.

+Doppelganger:
Meatballs and Quinoa croquettes
Roast Pumpkin and roast pork
Cashew or coconut cream curry
Roasted apple and potato

+Anaphora:
Fir sables
Fir panna cotta
Fir sugar’d fruit

TEXT BALL tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. To purchase tickets click here:

Note that costumes are encouraged but definitely not required.

All proceeds from the TEXT BALL benefit the IPRC’s mission to facilitate creative expression, identity, and community by providing access to publishing tools and resources.
