TAKE TO THE SHIP: A Continuous Reading of Moby Dick

Join us for a round-the-clock reading of Herman Melville’s Moby Dick. Originally published in 1851, the epic tale of a global pursuit for one white whale has captivated readers for generations. Calling on one hundred and thirty-five readers from around the Portland arts community to each take a chapter of the novel, the reading will be recorded and sold as a fundraiser for the Independent Publishing Resource Center, a Portland-based arts organization supporting independent publishing and artwork. Powell’s will host the first five hours of the reading, with the remaining twenty-something hours to continue at another location. For more information, please visit www.taketotheship.com.
