March Monoprint Madness

Monoprinting is a type of printmaking where the intent is to make unique prints, that may explore an image serially. While other methods of printmaking create editioned multiples, the monoprint is editioned as 1 of 1. (from Wikipedia)

The Gelli Plate is made by Gelli Arts. They can be used for creating prints, from the simple to the complex. Printed paper can be used for collage elements or you can create stand-alone prints. The plates can also be used to create image transfers.

Supplies:

  • Gelli plate or homemade gelatin plate (see comments)
  • Acrylic paints
  • Brayer for applying paint evenly
  • Baren or wooden spoon for burnishing
  • Paper to print onto
  • Stencils
  • Tools for creating patterns on plate (e.g., acrylic paint tools)
  • Water bottle
  • Paper towels
  • Work surface protection
  • Magazine images or toner based prints (for image transfer)

Note: This is a donation based event and the Collage Guild appreciates your contributions very much. Suggested donation is $6.00. You can donate using the links below.

Your donation is used to cover the cost of our Zoom fees, Meetup subscription costs, and renting space to meet in person. Thanks for your support!
