Experimental Screenprinting

October 16, 2016 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Experimental Screen Printing

In this workshop participants will learn how to screen print with watercolors, create split fountains, print even flats of color, mono print with the screen, and test the benefits of ink transparency and ink additives. While exploring these techniques you will have the chance to print on materials such as acrylic or plastic sheets and various types of paper.

Additionally, the instructor will demonstrate how to setup your print station for printing onto thin sheets of wood and flat bullets of fabric. Participants will have the chance to work with rubylith and learn non-photo emulsion stenciling techniques that utilize drawing fluid and screen filler, plus hand cut contact paper stencils. The remainder of the workshop will be hands-on work time. You are welcome, but not required, to bring images to work with, screens to use, or materials to print onto.

Prerequisite: Intro to Screen Printing. You must take the Intro to Screen Printing to gain access to the studio. This course cannot be taken as training for studio access. If you have prior screenprinting experience, contact Studio Manager Katherine Spinella at katherine@iprc.org, or the Program Director, Haji Quinn at hquinn@iprc.org.
