“THE VOTE” is a collaborative poetry writing / reading / social engagement experiment.

With the 15th Amendment and the 270 electoral votes in mind, we’ve asked 15 poets to compose a collaborative poem of 270 lines (each poet to contribute 18 lines). We are responding to reference reading materials we’ve selected and that are downloadable here: https://purrr2017.tumblr.com/post/157206958109/the-vote
We invite the general public to read and download these materials. Our intention for the evening is to create a space for public creative engagement around these materials, and to generate a public poem(s).

PURRR Mission Statement:
Poets United to Read, Rouse, Resist (PURRR) is a quarterly series of events that explore and provide sites of inquiry into the idea of poetry as resistance. Through collaborative styles of reading, writing, and performance, we believe in the possibilities of generative art making, social engagement, and a variety of discussion models. We are united to strengthen and celebrate our communities and resist oppression in all its forms.
