Show:Tell Creative Writing & Printmaking for High School-Aged Artists & Writers (Part One)
June 22 @ 9:00 am - June 26 @ 2:00 pm
Modeled after a low-residency MFA program and summer camp, these 5-day workshops provide a generative and serious learning environment for young artists who want to hone their craft, experiment with new forms, create an artistic community, and have a lot of fun along the way.
Youth are encouraged to join us for the two weeks, but can opt for one. Focus areas include poetry, micro-fiction & essays, letterpress, risograph, and screen printing, bookbinding, and the basics of performance as a writer/reader. Each week will include peer-to-peer workshops with teen printmakers and site visits to other print studios in Portland, as well as lessons on the ins-and-outs of being a freelance professional. Many young writers come away with their own chapbook, so it’s helpful to come in with lots of ideas!
Space for 14 youth each week – aged 14-18; $350/week (partial and full scholarships available – email firstname.lastname@example.org)
**High Schoolers who are interested can also reach out to us about being teaching-artists-in-training in the elementary and middle school-aged camps after participating in Show:Tell Camp**
