Join us for the release of The V-Word, a new book by Amber J. Keyser. Teens, parents, educators, and others interested in empowering young adults to chart their own course when it comes to sex are invited to join editor Amber Keyser and essayists Sara Ryan, Sarah Mirk, and Kate Gray for readings and conversation about The V-Word: True Stories About First-Time Sex.
For young women, the decision to have sex for the first time is often fraught with emotions ranging from excitement and desire to anxiety, guilt, and uncertainty. THE V-WORD takes on those emotions by sharing honest and poignant essays by 17 women about losing their virginity. Equal parts funny, hot, cringe-worthy, and empowering, the collection reveals the diversity and reality of first-time sexual experiences—some exhilarating and some disappointing—through essays by trans, gay, bisexual, and straight women. The book includes a discussion of media portrayals of teen sex and resources for both teens and parents.
