In this in-person workshop, we will break down what makes a solid artist statement. Together, we will look at examples from a variety of artists and discuss what makes them tick: voice, values, and craft. Students can also expect to participate in generative free writes and draft, share, and informally critique work. Each student will aim to craft a flexible and durable statement that can be used on a gallery wall or as a building block in a successful grant, residency, or MFA application. This course is open to all makers, writers, and artists of any experience level. Sliding scale and scholarships available.
