Zine of the Month 2013 Year-In-Review!

Looking a back at 2013, our ZINE of the MONTH program has proudly featured an impressive array of themes and visual techniques.

From the pop culture collages of Fred Thomas to the ghostly ink washes of Aaron Brassea, the breadth of approaches to illustration and production speak not only to the vibrant zine culture here in Portland, but to the many voices participating in this scene from around the country. This extensive vitality is exemplified in the reoccurring themes of memoir and education in these collected works. Through the power of mass distribution, autobiographical flair and personal histories are compounded into thoughtful, ephemeral reflections on collaborative meaning-making. We’re excited to see where 2014 takes us, but, in the meantime, take some time to review our 2013 zine archive!

The IPRC has been blessed with a very invested Zine of the Month Coordinator, Delphine Bedient. We REALLY appreciate her commitment and organizational skills in coordinating the Zine of the Month Club and says of her work with the ZOM program: “As Zine of the Month Coordinator for the IPRC, I feel incredibly fulfilled by the work that I do. Through this position I have the opportunity to connect with many talented individuals, and when I find work that inspires me, I have the agency to provide an audience for this work.”

Delphine Bedient is a writer and maker currently based in Portland, Oregon. She produces small-batch publications under the imprint Sincerely Analog and is currently at work on a collection of short fiction to be published by Two Plum Press.

You can purchase it separately, or a $100 membership gets you a subscription for FREE! To sign up to get a original zine sent to your home each month, click here: http://www.iprc.org/zineofthemonth
