Message from the Director

Greetings from the IPRC Staff Cabin! Every July, the IPRC as you know it transforms into Camp IPRC. Camp IPRC is a wonder-filled place, where everyone’s welcome—kids and adults, Yetis and non-Yetis. And unlike those others across the lake like Camp Eagle and Camp Hiawatha, Camp IPRC is not just for rich kids.

To kick off Camp IPRC, we have Print Camp for adults coming up on the weekend of July 10 (sorry, sold out), followed by Comics Camp for adults on July 31 and August 1. To register for Comics Camp, give us a ring at 503.827.0249.

We also have some great events lined up in July and August, including a First Thursday in July art opening of Small Mythologies—a stellar art show by Corinne Teed featuring woodblock prints, screenprints, paintings and even some letterpress prints made right here at the IPRC. On July 20, we’re pleased to host local Sit Saw Press for a release party of Stacey Tran’s Smoking at Night and Other Poems. And don’t forget to mark your calendar for amazing Portland Zine Symposium on the last weekend in August.

As always, we have excellent workshops lined up for July and August. Along with our regular classes in Letterpress printing, Bookbinding, and InDesign, we’re adding a newfangled E-Book workshop, to help indie publishers make some extra bread selling books/zines via IPhone and IPad.

Happy Camping,
Justin Hocking, IPRC Director
