About the Library
The IPRC maintains a library of over 13,000 self-published and independently produced materials. Items are available to the public for circulation and for reference use. The library contains materials that are not otherwise represented in public libraries and that may be lost forever without our efforts. Located on the shelves are comics, chap books, novels, catalogs, zines, artists' books, and more. A comprehensive reference section includes artists books, guides, criticism, history and how-to information available to examine and use in the library. Additionally, most materials produced in whole or part at the IPRC are archived as part of this collection.
Zine Librarian Office hoursThe librarian is available to assist with searching, new donations, and volunteering in the library. For Summer 2015, the librarian office hours are most Wednesday 3-6PM, or by appointment.
As the IPRC’s Zine Library is currently backlogged with cataloging, please email firstname.lastname@example.org prior to donating. That being said, without your generosity our shelves would be empty and we would of course love to hear from you! We also very much appreciate monetary donations; it enables us to purchase important publications that we are unable to get through donations and helps to defray the costs of operating the library. Please let us know your thoughts via the above email!
The collection is easy to browse as it is labeled and categorized by subject and alphabetized by title. Extensive effort has gone into cataloging the collection, enabling library users to search by title, author, publisher, date, subject, contents and tag. Although you cannot take any of the zines home with you, we greatly encourage you reading them at the IPRC--we're open 7 days a week!
