IPRC Benefit Rock Show

Help us kick off the Portland Zine Symposium at the Holocene.  Featuring a reading by Alex Wrekk, Live performances by Ah Holly Fam’ly and Arrington de Dionyso, plus the Zenith of Zines: a late-night 90’s themed dance party with DJ Vic Alfonzo and Colin Jones.

Artist Talk: Joe Wirtheim

Come hear artist Joe Wirtheim talk about The Victory Garden of Tomorrow, an art project posing as a propaganda campaign for new American homefront values. Wirtheim works in the style of mid-century war propaganda, but communicates messages relating to the 21st century sustainability movement. The campaign is designed to overcome adversity, and apply those values to fighting modern problems.

BindFast Perfect Binding

Using the Bind-Fast 5, you can bind as many as 50 actual softcover books or zines per hour. Completion of this workshop authorizes IPRC members to use the Bind-Fast during supervised binding hours, so you can take your publishing projects to the next level.

Open Mic Zine Camp Reading

Come hear the participants of Zine Camp read from their final projects at this free open mic event.

D. I. Y. Pefect Binding

Making a book, zine, or journal that has 30+ pages? Looking to try something different than staples and heavy folded binding? Then “do it yourself” perfect binding it just the workshop you need. In this single-session class, you’ll learn fast and simple solutions for folding, stacking, stitching and binding that use inexpensive materials and leave you with a clean flat spine that can hold text. Your covers will lie flat, and a spine on the shelf says something.

Beginning InDesign

Put down the glue sticks and scissors and learn to use Adobe In Design, a powerful page layout and print design progam that allows you to create and deliver printed documents or multi-page books that are both attractive and effective. This one-session workshop will get you rolling with InDesign.

Stolen Sharpie Revolution 2 Zine Release and Open Mic

Since 2002 Stolen Sharpie Revolution has been the ultimate guidebook to all things zine related. Now it’s back and better than ever. Join Alex Wrekk at the IPRC to celebrate the release of Stolen Sharpie Revolution 2 that will be available for a special release part price! Don’t forget to bring your zine and take part in the Open Mic.

Square Foot Zine Fest

Good things come in small packages! Join us for the first annual Square Foot Zine Fest! Each tabler will have one square foot to show their zines and other merchandise. Word games and zine swapping will ensue! There are still slots available—stop by the IPRC to sign up now.

Each square foot spot is $5 for members.

COMICS FOR KIDS

 

In this Workshop, parents and kids make comics together while learning about comics techniques (character design, expression, exaggeration, etc.) Short exercises will keep you entertained and before you know it you’ll have a fun comic for everyone to read.
