D.I.Y. Perfect Binding
Making a book, zine, or journal that has 30+ pages? Looking to try something different than staples and heavy folded binding? Then “do it yourself” perfect binding it just the workshop you need. In this single-session class, you’ll learn fast and simple solutions for folding, stacking, stitching and binding that use inexpensive materials and leave you with a clean flat spine that can hold text. Your covers will lie flat, and a spine on the shelf says something.

Put down the glue sticks and scissors and learn to use Adobe In Design, a powerful page layout and print design progam that allows you to create and deliver printed documents or multi-page books that are both attractive and effective. This one-session workshop will get you rolling with InDesign.

Stencil for Screenprint
This class serves as an introductory survey of the history, technique and practical yet dynamic aesthetic of stencil art. We’ll pay particular attention to images produced using found or recycled materials. Let’s explore the empowering (and accessible) world of stencil art. (The stencils will be used in class to create a screen print)

Care & Maintenance of your Table-top Press
Instructor will review the parts and maintenance requirements of tabletop presses, using the IPRC presses as examples. Participants will learn how to adjust the platen for proper pressure, make minor repairs, and find parts and vendors for more major repairs or replacements.

Intermediate Letterpress
A workshop designed specifically for those who have experience setting type by hand and printing on Vandercook or proof presses but not tabletop platen presses. Participants will hand set a calling card and print using the IPRC equipment. Lock-up, proper registration and inking will be covered.
Pre-requisite: moderate experience with a proof press, and no or limited experience with a platen press. Not appropriate for those who have already taken other letterpress classes at the IPRC.
