John is the creator of the illustrated book Do-It-Yourself Screenprinting which was published by Microcosm in 2007. In this hand-on class, you’ll learn how to draw a self-published comic book. John will cover the basics of getting your voice out in comic book form, how to draw with reproduction in mind and many tricks of the trade. Also covered: lettering and design as well as basic drawing techniques. Using these skills, we’ll draw an actual comic story during class.

Letterboxing Hide and Seek

A letterbox is a hidden journal and stamp set that you can find with clues listed on a letterboxing website-there are more
than 1000 in Portland alone! We will create our own boxes with paper and stamps (your design!) and will post them online for people to search for.
We’ll then go out as a group and search for one nearby!
